GF1-LR3 stands as a modified variant of insulin-like
growth factor-1, known by its complete designation as
insulin-like growth factor-1 long arginine 3. All derivatives
of IGF-1 significantly contribute to cellular division,
proliferation, and intercellular communication. Despite
sharing similar effects, IGF-1 LR3 exhibits a weaker binding
affinity to IGF binding proteins in comparison to IGF-1.
Consequently, IGF1-LR3 remains in circulation around 120
times longer than IGF-1. This prolonged half-life of IGF1-
LR3 stems from structural modifications; the peptide’s
formulation involves the addition of 13 amino acids to the
N-terminal end of IGF-1 and the transformation of glutamic
acid at position 3 of IGF-1 into an arginine residue.
